Former WWE Star Apologized To Vince McMahon For Getting A Haircut
A WWE superstar had to go to Vince’s office just because he got a haircut.
Vince McMahon has long been alleged to be a micromanager and a control freak. He had his hands in everything in WWE, down to the most granular detail regarding whoever appeared on his TV shows.
As such, it was unwise to do anything without his explicit permission. But one wrestler decided to take a different approach.
When it came time for Heath Slater to decide on whether to call ahead before cutting his long hair, saw it as a “don’t ask for permission, ask for forgiveness” sort of situation.
Because of that, he was summoned into Vince McMahon’s office to explain himself. Speaking in an interview with Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Heath went into it expecting a verbal thrashing. What he got instead was a simple but stern warning.
“I just straight up told him. I said, ‘Vince, I was done with the long hair. I had it for years. It ran its course. I just want something different.’ I guess he understood. He was like, ‘You ever do anything drastic like that again, you gotta let me know first.’ I said, ‘Yeah, totally, sorry, my bad’”.
Heath elaborated that the main reason such changes needed pre-approval from Vince McMahon was WWE’s relationship with merchandise makers.
If an action figure looked one way and the wrestler they’re supposed to resemble looked another way, then that would jeopardize WWE’s ability to profit off said wrestler’s likeness.
