An active WWE superstar will be in action at an independent wrestling show during WrestleMania 40 weekend in Philadelphia.

When a wrestler signs a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment, it normally means that the male or female performer is only going to compete in a WWE ring with very few exceptions.

As fans have learned over the past couple of years, the current regime led by Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque isn’t afraid to try new things. Several NXT wrestlers have competed at Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling promotion and now others will get a chance to do that sort of thing too.

It was announced on Friday that Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport X event presented by GCW will feature WWE’s Shayna Baszler in action. That event takes place on Thursday, April 4th in Philadelphia, which is the home of WrestleMania 40.

Bloodsport is different than traditional wrestling. They try to prevent a more fight-based atmosphere, so matches can only be won by knockout or submission, and the ring ropes are removed for the bouts.

There were reports from PWInsider and Fightful Select that there will likely be additional announcements soon about other WWE superstars working the GCW shows that week.

What does it mean when a Queen takes up the sword and marches to war?

Blood. Victory. Glory.

From battlefields all over the world – MMA & the @ufc, @WWENXT, @WWE, @wwr_stardom, and more – to now step into a ring she was made for from the beginning.

The Warmaster’s disciple, “The Queen of Spades” Shayna Baszler, comes to Josh Barnett’s: Bloodsport X.
