WWE Smackdown Newcomer Has Lots Of Support In Management
A former NXT star that was drafted to Smackdown recently is considered by many people in WWE management to have a very bright future in the company.
During the recent WWE Draft, former NXT North American Champion Cameron Grimes was drafted to Friday Night Smackdown.
The 29-year-old Grimes had a lot of experience before signing with WWE in 2019 and joining the NXT brand. During that time, he developed an interesting character that shouted about going “to the moon” while also becoming a millionaire type of character as well. Grimes was a heel for much of his NXT run, but he also had a lot of success as a babyface too.
For several months, it was reported that Grimes was on his way to the main roster. His last NXT match was in November 2022, so he had to wait about six months for the company to finally call him up.
It has been reported by Fightful Select that many people backstage in WWE are big supporters of Grimes. There are several higher-ups in WWE, including Triple H, that are fans of his and see a lot of potential in Grimes on the main roster.
The report also noted that several agents and producers in WWE spoke highly of Grimes. A longtime WWE employee also told Fightful that they believe is a “slam dunk” saying that he could work a lot of different styles in the ring, so that will help him a lot.
In his Smackdown debut match on May 12th, Cameron Grimes beat Baron Corbin in about five seconds as Corbin ran right into a Cave In (double foot stomp to the chest) to give Grimes his first win on the main roster.
