WWE Segment Scrapped After AEW Revolution
AEW World Champion MJF caused a splash at Revolution when he threw a drink at a child in the crowd and now it seems that event may have had an impact on WWE Raw.
In San Francisco, MJF defended his AEW World Championship in the main event against Bryan Danielson in a sixty-minute Iron Man match. The spectacular contest was tied at three falls each when the time expired much to the annoyance of the crowd.
Tony Schiavone received instructions from Tony Khan on his headset, heading to the ring to tell the referee and ring announcer that the match would continue. With the help of an oxygen tank, MJF nailed Danielson before making the challenger tap out to his own LeBell Lock to retain his championship.
Early on in the contest, MJF caught attention for all the wrong reasons when he threw a drink on the child with the child and his mother appearing very unhappy about it. It later emerged that they were not plants and ended up being comforted by AEW’s community outreach boss Amanda Huber and was seen backstage getting to meet his favourite AEW star Powerhouse Hobbs to make up for the incident.
It was noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the drink thrown was believed to be the mother’s tequila and that it had gotten in the child’s eyes.
Now Fightful Select has reported that a segment where one WWE star would throw a drink in the face of another has originally been pencilled in for Raw in Boston. Some that heard of the plan throughout the day thought the segment may have been a shot at AEW but the report confirms that the segment was planned before Revolution.
The segment was eventually scrapped and one WWE star suggested that it might not have made air due to the MJF situation.
