WWE May Retire The Rock’s Final Boss Persona Under One Condition
The Rock returned to WWE TV in January 2024, and fans wanted to see him go up against Roman Reigns. It truly was the only dream match fans had in mind for The Brahma Bull.
However, the plans backfired when The Rock tried to take over Cody Rhodes’ spot for WrestleMania. For The Grandest Stage of All, fans wanted to see The American Nightmare dethrone The Tribal Chief.
In 2025, The Final Boss joined hands with John Cena and had him turn heel. However, the story did not have any conclusive ending since The Rock did not make any more appearances on WWE TV after Elimination Chamber.
WWE needs to give The Rock’s Final Boss persona a resolution
While speaking on TMZ’s Inside The Ropes, David Otunga pointed out that the Stamford-based promotion cannot retire The Final Boss persona without giving it a resolution, especially since fans had invested their time in this storyline.
No, [I don’t think they should retire The Final Boss character]. I think if it comes back, it needs to have a resolution. So, I think [The Final Boss] should come back for that reason.
But if we’re not going to get a resolution, I’ll let that go, and then, whenever Dwayne [The Rock] comes back, whatever that capacity is, maybe start something fresh.
While there is no saying when The Rock will return to WWE television, some are hoping he will be present during John Cena’s final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th, 2025.
