WWE Rejected Undertaker Request From Hall Of Famer
A WWE Hall of Famer has revealed their pitch to have The Undertaker induct them was turned down.
The Undertaker has shared a lot of his career with several major stars which could make him an ideal candidate to induct them into the WWE Hall of Fame. The Deadman’s partnerships with Paul Bearer and Kane are legendary, his rivalries with the likes of Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels, and Triple H are iconic and that could make him the perfect person to welcome any of them into the WWE Hall of Fame.
But in 2016, it was a man whose relationship with The Undertaker was closest behind the scenes who wanted The Phenom to do the honours.
WWE Say No To The Undertaker Request
Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, The Godfather revealed that he asked WWE for The Undertaker to do his induction into the Hall of Fame but that request had to be denied:
I asked for Taker. They were like, ‘Well, at this point, we can’t use him.’ This and that. ‘How about Ron [Simmons] and John [Layfield]?’ I was like, ‘Oh, that’s cool. I’m cool with them. They know a lot about me.’
The man The Godfather wanted would have been on hand for the event, however, as one night later The Undertaker defeated Shane McMahon inside Hell In A Cell at WrestleMania 32.
The man now best known as Mark Calaway was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame following the end of his career in 2022 and he returned to the ceremony in 2024 to provide the induction for Muhammad Ali.
