WWE Raw Ratings Up For Seth Rollins’ World Title Defense
Seth Rollins must have another reason to celebrate as his recent world title defense led to something not seen by WWE in quite some time: an increase in ratings.
Although WWE has remained profitable for many years now, it has struggled to grow its own core TV audience. This has been especially challenging since WWE’s main show RAW is in a highly competitive timeslot and other sports broadcasts like football, basketball, and hockey all out-draw WWE more often than not.
But something happened this past week that broke that trend. According to Wrestlenomics and WrestlingInc, a Twitter account that tracks and reports on various wrestling statistics, noted that the June 5th episode of RAW had particularly great numbers.
The account noted that the show average 1,828,000, which is 13% higher the previous week. Additionally, this is the highest viewership average since the April 3rd post-WrestleMania episode of RAW.
The highlights of the June 5th edition of RAW include the following:
- Becky Lynch qualifying for the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match
- Gunther beating Kevin Owens in a one-on-one non-title match
- Cody attacking the Miz after an edition of MizTV
- Seth Rollins retaining his World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest in the main event
It should also be noted that, in an inversion of the usual trend, RAW’s viewership increased during the third hour compared to the first. Under normal circumstances, RAW opens with its highest number of viewers and that number gradually goes down.
