WWE Planning For Rhea Ripley’s Return At Huge Event
It appears as though WWE has a specific date in mind for when “Mami” Rhea Ripley will make her return.
Rhea Ripley held the WWE Women’s Championship for an impressive 379 days and she never lost it in the ring.
On the Raw after WrestleMania episode in Philadelphia, Rhea Ripley was attacked by Liv Morgan in a backstage segment that saw Morgan throw Ripley into a wall. One week later on the April 15th Raw in Montreal, an emotional Ripley had to forfeit the Women’s World Championship that she fought so hard to win and defend for over a year.
The good news was that Ripley likely didn’t need a shoulder injury. The injury was a sprained AC joint, which meant about 4-6 weeks to gain full mobility and about 3 or 4 months before returning to the ring.
As for when Rhea Ripley might return, Fightful Select reports that WWE SummerSlam on August 3rd in Cleveland could be when “Mami” makes a triumphant comeback. It was noted by Fightful that due to how often WWE mentions her in the Liv Morgan-Dominik Mysterio storyline, the company feels like they can bring back Ripley whenever she’s ready, even if it’s in a non-wrestling capacity right away.
Rhea Ripley Will Be Targeting Liv Morgan
Liv Morgan defeated Becky Lynch to win the World Heavyweight Title at WWE King And Queen of the Ring, which obviously sets up Morgan as a target for Ripley when Rhea comes back since it was Morgan who caused Ripley’s injury. Morgan has said repeatedly that it was all payback for Ripley taking out Morgan in the summer of 2023 and costing Morgan over six months of action.
According to Fightful, even though Ripley has been off television for over two months, “many creative decisions have been made in her absence that still involve her.”
The Fightful report concluded by saying that it’s not known if there are specific plans in place for Ripley, but there is a hope that she could appear on television again ahead of SummerSlam or perhaps at SummerSlam itself.
For nearly two years since Dominik Mysterio turned on his father Rey to join The Judgment Day, Ripley has been romantically linked with Dominik on the Raw brand. While they have never kissed, it was always implied that they were a couple. As for her real-life away from WWE, Ripley is engaged to AEW’s Buddy Matthews while Dominik Mysterio was married to his longtime girlfriend earlier this year.
In WWE storylines, Liv Morgan has been pursuing Dominik heavily and even kissed him on the lips recently. Morgan also jumped onto Dominik in a mounted position as well while Dominik continues to try to refuse her advances.
