WWE Planning For Goldberg’s Final Match
The plans for Bill Goldberg’s final WWE match are in motion, including who the opponent will likely be.
It is well known in the wrestling world that 2025 will be the final year when John Cena competes in a WWE ring as a wrestler. The current WWE Champion Cena has been adamant that he is sticking to that plan and doesn’t plan on changing his mind.
In addition to Cena, WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg plans to have his final match in a WWE ring sometime this year.
Goldberg hasn’t wrestled since being defeated by Roman Reigns in February 2022, but the wrestling legend is training hard for one more match.
During a February interview, Goldberg mentioned getting stem cell treatments while planning to have his final match in the summer of 2025.
“I feel like a trillion bucks. Whether it’s from the stuff that I altered my life prior or the stem cell treatment after a day. I feel like a million bucks, comparatively. You have to be logical, but it’s like you’re a racehorse again, and you’re being held in a stall, and you can’t come out for a period of time.
I have a match sometime this summer. I don’t know exactly when it is, but I know it’s coming up and I know at 58 years old I have to be in my underwear in front of everybody and I hold a very high standard of myself. I need to get to work yesterday. The long-term benefit and the benefit for me in the ring will be much more if I just calm my ass down.”
WWE Is Working On Goldberg’s Return To The Ring
Wrestlevotes has reported that plans are in motion to create a storyline involving Goldberg’s final match in a WWE ring.
According to multiple sources, Goldberg’s name has been floated internally within WWE over the past week — the first time since his Bad Blood appearance and his interactions with Gunther. Feels like the inevitable return is nearing.
It has been confirmed by Fightful Select that a match between Goldberg and former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther “has absolutely been discussed for this year and is on the table.” The match is considered a possibility.
There was an altercation between Gunther and Goldberg at WWE Bad Blood in October 2024 in Atlanta, so that’s why when Goldberg wrestles his final match, the heel former champion Gunther makes sense as an opponent.
