WWE’s Nick Khan Reveals Major International PLE Plans
The WWE President Nick Khan has confirmed that a major international market will host a future PLE event.
There have been many WWE PLE shows taking place outside of the United States over the last few years. In addition to the annual Saudi Arabia events, countries like France, Germany, Scotland, Wales and others have hosted major events.
Due to WWE’s popularity reaching all-time highs, the company feels like it can test international markets and do well in them.
Leading the way for WWE is the company’s President Nick Khan, who is also a Director of TKO Group Holdings. TKO Group is WWE’s parent company.
While speaking to the Hindustan Times, Nick Khan confirmed that there will be a WWE PLE in India in either 2026 or 2027.
“That’s the goal, and we’re pencilling out 2026 and 2027 now. In one of our first meetings with Netflix after the deal was signed. Without asking, Netflix handed us a list of their priority countries. At the top of that list was India.
And knowing that the race would come into play on April 1 in India, if it’s important to Netflix, assume it’s important to us. India has always been important to us. So we’re pencilling it out now, and let’s wait and see.”
The WWE debut on Netflix in India will begin this Tuesday, April 1st. Prior to that, WWE aired on Sony Sports Network (formerly TEN Sports) since 2002.
There have been two “Superstar Spectacle” events specifically for the Indian market in 2021 (at the WWE Thunderdome) and in 2023 at the G. M. C. Balayogi Indoor Stadium.
Nick Khan Is Proud Of WWE’s Popularity In India
As the discussion continued, Nick Khan touted WWE’s popularity in India.
“WWE is the second most popular sport in India, behind cricket. There’s multi-generational viewing. Families watch it together. Women and men watch it alone.
“You’ll notice a lot of dramas and stories with deep narratives. That’s exactly what we believe WWE is.”
Nick Khan has been praised by many people within WWE, including WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H, who called Khan the best businessman he’s ever met.
