WWE News: Rey Mysterio Injured with a Torn Triceps, Surgery Not Expected, May Miss Two Months
It was announced during last night’s WWE Monday Night Raw broadcast that Rey Mysterio suffered a torn triceps and will be out of action. The good news is that it’s not going to be a long term injury that will require surgery.
The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reports that while Mysterio likely does have a triceps tear that WWE reported, “it is not thought to be as serious as a full tear that would require surgery.” Meltzer goes on to write that at Raw on Monday, the belief was that Rey would be out of action for about two months or less and will be able to recover through rehab. There won’t be surgery required.
That’s awesome news for the 45-year-old Rey, who teamed up with son Dominik at Payback to beat Seth Rollins and Murphy in a tag team match. Rey was supposed to face Rollins on Raw (and perhaps Rey would have won that match), but he was replaced by Dominik in the match. Rollins ended up beating Dominik in that Raw match.
You may recall back in May when Edge suffered a complete torn triceps in his match with Randy Orton at Backlash. The belief there is that Edge will miss possibly eight months of action unless it heals faster after surgery.
TJR Thoughts: All injuries suck, but at least there is some good news in this case because Rey isn’t going to require surgery and he should be back in action within a few months. That means he can continue to team with his son Dominik and I really hope they can become Tag Team Champions together. That would be cool to see.
