WWE Much Colder Now Than Under Vince McMahon’s Ownership
After the latest round of cuts – that might not be over – it’s been said that WWE is now a much colder place than under Vince McMahon’s ownership.
The wrestling world was shocked when R-Truth revealed that his WWE career was ending with the company not renewing his contract. That was followed by Carlito also confirming that his WWE contract was not being extended and his time in the company was effectively over.
The cuts did not stop there, however, as absent star Sarah Logan also went public about her WWE career coming to an end.
These cuts follow several rounds that have plagued the WWE roster since Endeavor completed its takeover of the company. Behind the scenes, there have been plenty of job losses as well, with Endeavor streamlining operations between the sports entertainment giant and UFC, which it also owned.
Vince McMahon Warmer Than New WWE Owners?
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the releases and explained why WWE is now a colder place with less room for nostalgia than it was under Vince McMahon’s ownership:
Being a public company allowed them to be as big as they are, to grow to the level they are and all that, so you take the good with the bad when you are like that. It’s the same as UFC, there’s a lot of stuff very, very different in UFC when the Fertittas owned it to when Endeavor owned it and in WWE it’s the same thing. It’s very different, it’s colder, it’s funny Vince [McMahon] is not the warmest guy but it’s colder.
There’s less nostalgia, it’s basically the people who helped build your company, the new owners come in like whatever you’ve done in the past doesn’t matter, it’s a clean slate and if they have somebody else doing the job, if they have someone in UFC doing a job and they’d been doing it years and years and years, and they have someone in WWE who did it well, it’s like we’ve already got somebody to do that job, we don’t need two people.
I don’t know if it’s the end of the cuts.
Vince McMahon was forced to resign as Executive Chairman of TKO when a lawsuit filed by an ex-WWE employee accused him of serious sexual assault and sex trafficking related to his time running the company.
