Did WWE Make A Mistake With CM Punk’s Title Win?
CM Punk had a big victory at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1, 2025. In a high-stakes main event, Punk faced Jey Uso for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship.
The match was intense, with Uso showing resilience. But in the end, Punk pinned Uso after two back-to-back GTS finishers to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. The WWE Universe was very happy with Punk’s victory, but WWE legend Bully Ray felt the win was bland.
Why Bully Ray Is Not Happy With CM Punk’s Title Victory?
Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Bully Ray pointed out that WWE made a mistake by putting the World Heavyweight Championship on The Best In The World because he felt the win lacked a substantial build-up and backstory. He highlighted that CM Punk won the title only because Seth Rollins got injured.
It didn’t fit. Listen, everything went fine. Everything was good. Everything worked out. No problems. They put the championship on Punk. There’s no negative to what they did, but it just didn’t feel like a big deal. Yes, the fans were happy. Yes, the place popped, but it just didn’t feel like a championship that a win that really, really mattered. It felt like a win because they had to do something based on what happened to Seth. And I think subconsciously that’s in the back of everybody’s minds. (From 1:58)
On the Raw episode on November 3, 2025, the newly crowned World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk kicked off the show with a celebratory promo but was interrupted multiple times. First, Logan Paul made his surprise return, then Vision showed up to challenge his reign.
The night also featured a tag match with CM Punk and Jey Uso versus The Vision’s Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. The bout ended in chaos with a brawl ringside and a brutal post-match attack by The Vision and Logan Paul on Punk and Uso.
