Major WWE Star Eyes Mayoral Career After Retirement

WWE star Rusev wants to be a mayor in the future.

Rusev (aka Miro) kicked off his pro wrestling career in 2010 when he signed with WWE. He worked with the Stamford-based company for a decade until he was released from his contract as part of budget cuts due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He was with AEW for a few years before returning to WWE in April 2025.

Rusev was the special guest on the first episode of his wife, CJ Perry’s (aka Lana) new podcast called Identity Crisis. During the podcast interview, he revealed he will run for mayor in the future, after his WWE career is over.

“I’ll be mayor one day. But yeah, follow my political career, please, in Bulgaria. When the time is right….That’s not going to be for a while. I still got WWE contracts.” (From 40:52)

WWE Star Rusev Served Lana Divorce Papers On Her Birthday

In the same podcast, Perry and Rusev also discussed their love, relationship, and marriage, where the female star revealed that her husband once sent her divorce papers on her birthday. They got married in 2016, but were separated for a while in 2023. However, they found their way back to each other eventually and renewed their vows in 2025.

Ever since his return to WWE, Rusev has been thriving on TV. He was recently announced as a participant in the John Cena Tournament. Meanwhile, Lana is signed to WWE under a Legends contract but hasn’t returned to action.
