WWE May Re-Sign Two Huge Former Champions
After their recent appearance on WWE shows, the company might consider re-signing its former champions.
Zack Ryder (Matt Cardona) and Dolph Ziggler (Nic Nemeth) competed in John Cena’s “Last Time Is Now” tournament as the mystery opponents of LA Knight and Solo Sikoa, respectively.
While both superstars were huge names in the company during their initial stints, Ryder was let go in 2020, whereas Ziggler was released in 2023.
Post-release, they returned to the indies and competed in various promotions. Ziggler is currently signed with TNA, whereas Ryder remains a freelancer.
Despite their time away from the Stamford-based company, their prevailing popularity with the fans came to light recently when Ryder wrestled on SmackDown and Ziggler fought on RAW.
Former WWE employees Jonathan Coachman and Vince Russo discussed the return of Dolph Ziggler and Zack Ryder on The Coach & Bro podcast, even claiming that the company might re-sign them in the near future.
“Those two guys are so good, and right now, for a roster that is not so deep, they could use both of those guys,” Jonathan Coachman said. “I would not be surprised if they re-sign both.” [36:24 onwards]
Dolph Ziggler Makes Confession About His WWE Return
Dolph Ziggler’s ambition to advance in the ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament might have been dashed, but he was thankful for the opportunity.
Speaking on the Busted Open Podcast, he revealed that he had known about his match against Solo Sikoa for a couple of weeks.
Two, three weeks, perhaps. There is a handful of surprises and big moments that everybody remembers. I didn’t tell my parents. I told my brother. ‘If anybody finds out, I’ll know you told them because I told nobody else.’
He also claimed to be in a chat group with Zack Ryder, but none of them said anything to each other about their upcoming WWE appearances.
I’m in a group chat with Bobby Roode, Zack Ryder, and Brian Myers. I didn’t say anything. Me and Zack didn’t say anything. He said nothing.
