WWE Legend Reflects On Working With Cody Rhodes

WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T has been reflecting on a 2011 feud with Cody Rhodes.

The five-time WCW Champion became embroiled in a rivalry with Rhodes in late 2011 having made a surprise return at the 2011 Royal Rumble following a three year stint with TNA.

The pair battled in an intense six-week long feud that culminated in Rhodes successfully defending his WWE Intercontinental Championship against the Houston, Texas native on the 6th January 2012 edition of SmackDown.

It would prove to be one of Booker T’s final bouts for the company before he transitioned into General Manager and commentary roles later in 2012.

The former WWE Champion discussed the series of bouts during a recent appearance on SHAK Wrestling and revealed that he was happy to put his younger opponent over:

“I was so pleased to work with Cody Rhodes. That was my swan song. That was the match that I wanted to leave in people’s minds the way I left the business — putting Cody Rhodes over. Me, looking up at the lights. It’s awesome to see Cody where he is now.”

The former King Of The Ring also had high praise for Rhodes’ work ethic and bold change of career path having left WWE of his own volition in May 2016:

“This a kid who was pretty much born into the WWE. He didn’t have to go there on the indie scene and grind and do all of that, but he did! And for me, personally, I respect him so much for it.”

Cody Rhodes Discusses Impending WWE Raw Exit

‘The American Nightmare’, who has featured predominantly on Raw since his return to WWE in April 2022, is set for a switch to Friday nights with the Undisputed WWE Championship being a title assigned to the SmackDown brand.

Rhodes recently discussed the move and admitted that it has arrived sooner than he had hoped for.
