WWE Legend Says Randy Orton Has Achieved Something Never Seen Before
Randy Orton understands wrestling like few others according to a WWE Hall of Famer.
Throughout Randy Orton’s recent absence through injury where his career seemed to be in doubt, much of the discussion around the star turned to his legacy.
Orton is a third-generation star and in the eyes of most observers has clearly passed the accomplishments of his father and grandfather in the ring. The star is one of the most decorated stars WWE has ever seen, while his peers regard him as one of the best workers of his generation.
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Hulk Hogan discussed The Viper’s career, and his own long association with the Orton family. Hogan began by praising Orton for mixing an old-school sensibility with a modern in-ring style — a feat accomplished by very few.
“Randy’s done something I haven’t seen done before,” said Hogan. “He’s a hybrid. A third-generation wrestler who learned from the old school. You can’t see any holes in his work. Everything he does means something.
Randy doesn’t get a guy in the corner and stomp him 20 times for no reason. He’ll stop you once or twice, and it means something. He understands how to adjust and adapt in a way no one else really does.”
Hulk Hogan Would Love To Face Randy Orton
Although he’s fully to admit it publicly to the world, Hogan is essentially retired. However, he says if he was at a different stage of life and not “beat to hell,” he’d love to share the ring with the star.
“If I wasn’t all beat to hell, I’d love to get in the ring with Randy,” said Orton. “We could still tear it down in the main event. Randy could call it in the ring, and he could adjust to my style to make sure it worked perfectly.
He’s just so good. He can work with veterans and the newer guys, too. He knows how to pivot both ways in the ring.
He understands wrestling in a way very few do. That’s why he is making masterpieces in the ring.”
Speaking elsewhere, Hulk Hogan said he’d love to tangle with Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and LA Knight if his body was willing.
Following Randy Orton’s return to WWE at Survivor Series, the star has become a part of the SmackDown roster. It’s believed veteran is heading for a showdown with Reigns at the Royal Rumble.
