WWE Legend Finally Debunks Major Eddie Guerrero Death Rumor

Eddie Guerrero WWE Champion

One week from now will be the 20th anniversary of Eddie Guerrero’s passing.

On November 13, 2005, WWE and the wrestling world lost one of its greatest performers hours before he was scheduled to appear for a show.

The cause of his death was determined as heart failure, but another theory has prevailed for years.

Many fans have claimed that Guerrero’s death may have occurred due to the aftereffects of a chair shot he took during his last match against Mr. Kennedy during a SmackDown taping.

Now, a WWE legend has stepped up and brushed it away, claiming that it is false.

During an appearance on Something To Wrestle, JBL confirmed hearing about the particular rumor and acknowledged why it was easy for fans to jump to conclusions.

No, yeah, never. Not one time, no. And I think I’ve heard that over the years. I think it kind of sounds familiar, but nobody thought that. You know, guys have gotten 1000s of chair shots over the years, and guys don’t die from chair shots, you know?

I get why the conspiracy gets put together. Hard chair shot, you die however long later it was. And I get why people could put, you know, two and two together like that, and get that. But nobody at the time thought that, and I certainly don’t believe that.

Eddie Guerrero Was Posthumously Inducted Into The WWE Hall Of Fame

Theories about Eddie Guerrero‘s death have continued to exist despite the medical reports.

His widow, Vicki Guerrero, added that his past struggles with alcohol may have contributed to his heart disease.

JBL echoed similar sentiments, stating he had spoken to Chavo Guerrero.

Apparently, his heart just stopped. You know, I talked to, you know, Chavo’s told the story about finding him in his bathroom. You know, he got up in the morning, brushed his teeth, and just died. You know, his heart just quit. His life was over. [H/T: Ringside News]

Guerrero was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2006.
