Eddie Guerrero Built A Legend
In the mid-1980s, Eddie Guerrero decided it was time to join the family business and began training as a wrestler. Gory Guerrero was a well-established star in his own right and once wrestled Lou Thesz for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.
Eddie made his in-ring debut in 1986 before debuting in WCW as an enhancement talent in 1989. Guerrero went on to wrestle in CMLL, AAA, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and ECW before returning to WCW in 1995.
Over the next five years, Guerrero wrestled a series of classic matches against Rey Mysterio, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho, and more, but he was kept away from the main event picture.
In early 2000, Guerrero, Malenko, and Benoit arrived in WWE, and “Latino Heat” quickly endeared himself to the WWE faithful. After being fired and battling addiction, Guerrero eventually climbed to the top of the WWE mountain in 2004, winning the World Championship.
Eddie Guerrero sadly passed away on November 13, 2005, aged just 38.
