Fan-Favorite WWE Legend Confirms Retirement From Wrestling
A WWE Hall of Famer confirmed that he is stepping away from the squared circle.
Goldberg last wrestled over three years ago, as he went head-to-head against Roman Reigns at WWE Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia. The Universal Championship match ended in defeat for the 58-year-old legend.
Since then, the former World Heavyweight Champion has been vocal about his desire to have a retirement match. Following his appearance at Bad Blood last year, he announced that he would have his final WWE bout in 2025.
About two weeks ago, Goldberg returned on RAW to confront the World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, challenging him for his title. The two will now clash in a championship match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in the Hall of Famer’s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.
While many have been skeptical about Da Man’s intent to hang up his boots for good, especially after his son, Gage, predicted that his father would want to wrestle again after facing The Ring General, Goldberg shot down these speculations in a recent interview with CarCast.
The WWE legend confirmed that he would truly step away from wrestling after his upcoming fight to focus on his personal life.
I’ve a life to live. I have a family and I have responsibilities. You know there’s a lot you got to do at one point. I don’t have anyone helping anymore. I’ve got my agents, but I don’t have assistance, and I don’t have anybody working under the roof other than myself. It’s tough to be able to fit everything in. But there will be a lull after this match. I won’t be wrestling anymore.
Goldberg Vs. Gunther Could End In A Massive Twist, Says Ex-WWE Star
On the Behind The Turnbuckle: The Last Word podcast, former Interim RAW General Manager Jonathan Coachman suggested an unexpected scenario for the highly-anticipated World Heavyweight Title match between Gunther and Goldberg.
The wrestling veteran claimed Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins could interfere to help Goldberg beat Gunther to win the title. He added that The Visionary could then turn on Da Man and cash in on him to capture the championship.
What if Seth comes out and does the chicken-shit heel thing and that is thinking it is mine. I can beat Goldberg, but I can’t beat Gunther. So he helps Goldberg win over Gunther and then turns on Goldberg immediately and then wins the World heavyweight Championship, so then on RAW, in the next coming weeks, he can tell the story I won I won I won I won, but everyone else is saying but you beat the 58-year-old.
