WWE Hall Of Famer Says LA Knight “Really Needed” SummerSlam Win

LA Knight picked up one of the biggest victories of his WWE career and one Hall of Famer is happy about because he feels the Megastar needed a win like that.

In the weeks leading up to SummerSlam, there was a rumored card for the show that didn’t include the SummerSlam Battle Royal. That was added on Smackdown less than two weeks before SummerSlam took place. Perhaps if LA Knight didn’t catch fire, another match like Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus could have been in that spot.

Many fans went into SummerSlam thinking that LA Knight was an obvious choice as the winner due to his recent rise in popularity thanks to his “Yeah” catchphrase and his merchandise numbers being at the top of WWE these days. Knight won the battle royal after eliminating Sheamus.

During his Hall of Fame podcast, two-time WWE Hall of Famer and NXT commentator Booker T said Knight really needed a win like that.

“For LA Knight to get that big win, I felt like it was something that he really needed just because his momentum is well over the top now. And when you got somebody that hot, you gotta keep the rocket on him, man. You gotta let him go to the moon. You gotta let that man go out there and have his champagne wishes and cavier dreams. That’s the way I see it.”

“And for LA Knight to get that big win at SummerSlam, it does a whole lot for the young man’s career. I think the only thing different between LA Knight and Stone Cold Steve Austin and Booker T is the time he’s been out there, he just hasn’t had enough time yet, you know, but this is gonna be his era. This is what people gonna be remembering, you know, going forward I think.”

“I’m real happy for LA Knight. The thing is, people gravitated to LA Knight because he’s a cool dude. He’s cool. I mean, the guys want to be like him. And the women? The women, you know, they signing up, you know what I mean? They are filling out applications, man. I’m just telling it like it is. So no, man. LA Knight, he’s in the right place at the right time.”

LA Knight Featured On WWE Raw

Since WWE is so high Knight these days, they also put him on Raw this past Monday even though he’s a Smackdown wrestler. Knight proved to be a ratings hit on Raw due to his segment drawing a higher quarter hour than what Raw usually does in that same spot every week.

That Raw interaction saw Knight have a promo battle with The Miz, who felt disrespected by the rising Megastar. Knight didn’t like what Miz was saying and it ended with Knight hitting the BFT (Blount Force Trauma) on Miz. With Miz out on the mat, Knight also shook his hand as well. It’s possible that this could lead to a Knight-Miz match at Payback on September 2nd.
