WWE Hall Of Famer Owes Hulk Hogan Everything About His Career
Hulk Hogan’s death on July 24 came as a shock to the wrestling world and his fans.
He was 71.
Hogan is often credited with revolutionizing the sports entertainment business through his larger-than-life persona and iconic one-liners.
Many wrestlers from the past and present sent their condolences, sharing their experience with the legendary figure.
One such personality is Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake.
The duo formed a bond before their WWE days, training together and even briefly living together.
In WWE, they formed the Mega-Maniacs, a fan-favorite tag team. They leveraged their real-life friendship to become a successful pairing.
Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake were in the same faction in WCW, too, after the formation of nWo.
The WWE Hall of Famer appeared on TMZ Sports, where he claimed he owed Hogan for everything in his life and cherished his friendship.
He and I became so close, starting together and coming through the trenches and training. There’s so much that nobody knows about, really, our beginnings, our past. I owe him everything, and I’m just grateful to have known him, to have been there many times for him, as he was for me. [1:49 onwards]
D-Von Dudley Lashes Out At Hulk Hogan’s Critics
While Hulk Hogan was a revered personality, he had his demons.
In 2015, an audio of him using racial slurs surfaced, resulting in heavy backlash. Despite publicly apologizing, the incident significantly impacted his legacy.
Former WWE tag team champion D-Von Dudley recently appeared on the Duke LovesRasslin podcast, sharing a candid take on the controversy.
First, he shared a personal moment with the WWE Hall of Famer.
He pulled me aside and said, ‘Devon, I’m not that type of person. I know I might have said or done things in the past… but I love you.’ He didn’t have to do that, but he did. That speaks volumes.
He then lashed out at the critics, labeling them hypocrites.
Some of the same people burying Hogan now have done things that, if brought to light, would put them in the same boat. Yet you buried him when he was here… now that he’s dead, you want to act like saints? That’s hypocritical, he said.
After the controversy, WWE terminated his contract. However, over time, both parties reconciled, as Hogan was last seen during the debut of WWE RAW on Netflix in January 2025.
