WWE Hall Of Famer Needs Surgery After 1992 Injury

JBL Booker T WWE

One WWE Hall of Famer has revealed they still need surgery following an injury suffered in their debut match all the way back in 1992.

Booker T had quite a career in the wrestling business, making his name in WCW where he found success in the tag team ranks with his brother Stevie Ray as Harlem Heat. Booker went on to become WCW’s biggest name when the company was bought by WWE in 2001 and held the WCW World Championship five times before becoming World Heavyweight Champion in 2006.

A stellar broadcasting career followed with Booker T providing colour commentary for WWE on several shows and he can currently be heard every week on NXT.

That all resulted in the master of the spinaroonie receiving two separate inductions into the WWE Hall of Fame – one as a singles star and one as part of Harlem Heat. But it seems despite all of his accolades, the star is still troubled by an injury that happened in his first-ever match.

WWE’s Booker T Still Hurting From 1992 Debut

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Booker T explained that he needs to have surgery on his knee following an injury suffered in his first match in 1992 and while he’s put the operation off for 32 years, he’s still looking to put it off even longer if he can:

You know what? I gotta have something done to my right knee. I tore my PCL, my debut in the Global Wrestling Federation and I never got it fixed and it’s come back to haunt me and my golf game has been struggling this last year.

The thing with my knee, I’m still putting it off. I put the clubs down. I’m still putting this thing off as long as I possibly can. I hate having surgeries. I know I’ma be laid up. My body’s gonna suffer, I’m gonna get old quick. So I’m like, man, screw it. I’ma just ride it as long as I possibly can. I’m serious (he laughed).

You’re exactly right (that wrestlers never get out of that frame of mind). Tape it up, I’m good. I swear man, sometimes it hurts so bad and then sometimes, it don’t hurt at all. It’s one of those type of injuries. So I’m like, I’ma just ride it until the wheels fall off.

The 2006 King of the Ring has never been shy about dishing out criticism to AEW and Booker T recently claimed that two major stars were mismanaged in Tony Khan’s company.
