WWE Hall Of Famer Thinks MJF Came Out Too Strong During AEW Return

MJF at AEW Double or Nothing 2024

MJF is back and he’s already got people talking.

At Double or Nothing, MJF returned to AEW for the first time since losing the World Championship to Samoa Joe at Worlds End in December. The star went into the match banged up with hip and shoulder injuries, and needed time to recuperate.

The former World Champion’s first act back in AEW was to attack Adam Cole, leaving him being scooped from the ring by officials. In his subsequent promo, the fired-up star said he was done with friends, and he’d finally remembered who he was. MJF closed by saying he’s staying with AEW for the long term, unveiling a new tattoo that hammered home that fact.

Speaking on 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff said he wasn’t sure what to make of the star’s return, surmising that he might have “come out a little too strong.”

“I was very surprised. I hadn’t heard any rumors or anything that he was going to be making an appearance, so I was happy to see it,” Bischoff said.

I’ve been a fan of MJF. I make a disclaimer there right off the bat. I’m not sure how I felt about his promo, though. I don’t know. I want to see more of them. If the character is evolving, which just by virtue of the way he dressed and came in wearing his half-jean half-leather jacket and coming on real strong, if that’s going to be a change in his character, I gotta see where it goes and see how he does it. I thought he came out a little too strong.”

MJF Creative To Surprise Fans

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that MJF’s upcoming creative is “out of left field,” but sources believe it will be a success. It’s also been confirmed the star signed a multi-million dollar contract with the company in 2022, but it remains unclear just how long that deal will last.

MJF was smuggled into Double or Nothing in a wheelchair after being driven to the venue from Phoenix.
