WWE Hall Of Famer Reacts To Current Wrestlers Using Famous Hand Gesture
A WWE Hall of Famer has given his thoughts on current wrestlers doing a famous hand gesture.
As a two-time WWE Hall of Famer who was inducted as part of two of the biggest groups in pro wrestling, Sean Waltman aka X-Pac has a unique perspective on the “Monday Night Wars” era of pro wrestling.
Waltman started his career as a skinny kid who wasn’t well known and used the name of the 1-2-3 Kid in WWE. When he jumped to WCW, he ended up joining the New World Order along with his good friends, Scott Hall & Kevin Nash. Hulk Hogan was the third member of the group as well and obviously, they became a bigger deal because of Hogan.
In 1998, it was back to WWE for Waltman as his run as X-Pac began on the night after WrestleMania 14. The New Age Outlaws joined while Triple H was the leader and D-Generation X took off from there.
While talking to Fightful, Waltman spoke about his legacy as a pro wrestler who was in the NWO and D-Generation X.
“Both of the groups I’m famous for being in left a mark like that. People are still wearing nWo shirts and people are still telling people to suck it. I’m very proud of my contribution to society.”
Sean Waltman is cool with current wrestlers doing the “Too Sweet” hand gesture that he used in WWE and WCW
When Waltman was in the NWO and DX, he was often on television doing the “Too Sweet” hand gesture. It actually came from his friendship with The Clique group which included Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash.
There are current wrestlers who use the “Too Sweet” gesture, most notably guys in the Bullet Club group in NJPW who were also in other promotions. According to Waltman, he really doesn’t mind it.
“When all that stuff started getting big, I thought it was great. Some of my friends have had various opinions and their opinions have changed at times, but I think overall we’re flattered by it and it’s great. It’s not taking any money out of my pocket, somebody else doing [the Two Sweet sign] and making a buck, you know?”
D-Generation X was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019 and the NWO was inducted in 2020, which took place in 2021.
