WWE Hall Of Famer Hits Back At Steroid Claims

WWE Hall Of Famer Responds To Accusations That They Politicked Their Way To World Title

A WWE legend says they were all natural.

Although he broke into the wrestling industry as a singles star, Scott Steiner enjoyed his first run of real success with his brother Rick. The duo initially starred in WCW before moving to the WWF in 1992. After winning the World Tag Team Titles twice, the pair moved back to WCW in 1996 after making stops in Japan and ECW.

The Steiners initially continued to team together but through 1997 and into early 1998, Scott changed his look dramatically, getting into incredible shape before being dubbed “Big Poppa Pump.” This kick-started a singles career that saw the star go on to become World Champion.

However, Steiner’s transformation sparked speculation he’d been using steroids — allegations that would follow him for the rest of his career.

During an interview on A&E Biography: WWE Legends, the former World Champion claimed his physique was the result of a strict diet and work in the gym, not steroids. Steiner stated he’d never failed a drug test.

“You can make all the accusations you want. I’ve never failed a drug test,

Take that information and do what you want with it. When I made the transition from Steiner Brothers to Big Poppa Pump, I wanted to get in the best shape I possibly could. A lot of strict diet. Once you are leaner, you’re naturally going to look bigger.”

Scott Steiner Took Blame For WWE Exile

Despite his huge list of accolades, Steiner had to wait until 2022 to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame alongside his brother Rick.

In early 2024, Scott Steiner looked back on that proud night and took responsibility for it taking so long. The star had been openly critical of Triple H and WWE for decades, and he admitted it took him a long time to get over his disappointing run in the early 2000s. Steiner added that it “isn’t healthy” to hang on to those negative feelings, and with Bron Breakker now in the company he wanted to move on.
