WWE Hall Of Famer Discusses If Rock-Reigns Needs To Be At WrestleMania

The Rock

WWE Hall Of Famer Eric Bischoff has shared his thoughts on the timing of a possible bout between The Rock and Roman Reigns.

The former WCW and WWE Executive was reacting to the stunning return of The Rock on the 1st January 2024, with ‘The Great One’ sharing a memorable interaction with former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal before appearing to tease a future bout with Roman Reigns.

Speaking recently on the ‘Strictly Business‘ podcast, Bischoff suggested that the potential dream match wouldn’t necessarily have to take place at WrestleMania 40:

I don’t think it matters. The question will be, I think, from a strategic perspective. What’s the best use of, you know, we already know WrestleMania is going to be off the charts.

Suppose it were to be Cody [Rhodes] and Roman, which hasn’t even been announced yet. That’s an assumption. But if it were, we all know it’s going to. It’s going to be mind-blowing.

Certainly, if you throw a Rock in there, it may be more mind-blowing. If it were me, I’d probably look for another opportunity to use Rock…I mean, are you going to get WrestleMania, or why not get something else?”

WWE Hall Of Famer Eric Bischoff Believes Rock vs Reigns Could Happen Overseas

Bischoff’s podcast has a strong focus on the business side of professional wrestling and the former WCW Senior Vice President shared his belief that WWE may look to host the bout in an international market following recent trends with high profile overseas events.

The 68 year-old believes an appearance by ‘The People’s Champion’ would only help to increase WWE’s continual international growth:

“If I’m good at anything. It’s recognizing patterns before most people do when it comes to the business side of the wrestling business. And if you, as you pointed out, since Nick Khan is kind of taking over the ship business-wise, you look at the pattern and where these poles are going, these big live events, where are they going? The effort is international.

Rock showing up in Australia…wow, that’s even more interesting. Perth making international headlines is only going to make international expansion more profitable in the future.”
