WWE Hall Of Famer Loved Goldberg Appearance At Bad Blood
The confrontation between Bill Goldberg and Gunther has been praised heavily by a WWE Hall of Famer.
There were several legends in attendance at WWE Bad Blood in Atlanta, but only one of them took part in an angle on the show: Bill Goldberg.
Since Bad Blood was in Atlanta where Goldberg played football and has lived for many years of his life, it made sense for him to be there. The fans showed Bill a lot of respect as he sat at ringside with his wife and son Gage, who now plays college football at the University of Colorado.
After Triple H announced a new Crown Jewel Championship match set for the Crown Jewel PLE, he was interrupted by the World Heavyweight Champion Gunther. That led to Gunther saying he wasn’t a fan of Goldberg and told young Gage that he hoped Bill was a better father than he was a professional wrestler.
Following the insults from Gunther, Goldberg got out of his seat and tried to go after him, but security stepped in the way to prevent any physicality. After the segment was over, Goldberg looked into the camera and said “you’re next” as if to say he wanted a match with Gunther.
Booker T is a WWE Hall of Famer and NXT announcer who worked with Goldberg when he started in the business in the late 1990s in WCW and also in WWE. Booker T said on his Hall of Fame podcast that he loved the segment.
“Everybody won in that segment. Everybody. To the end, everybody won. So it was really cool actually see Goldberg, to get the Goldberg chant in Atlanta, you know. And it’s right there in his backyard. So that’s the way it’s supposed to be. So I loved every bit of that segment.”
“This Is Great TV” – Booker T Reaction To Goldberg-Gunther Confrontation
As he continued, Booker went on to praise the promo becoming personal by having Gunther take a shot at Goldberg as a father.
“‘You could say something about me, but don’t talk about my boy.’ It was one of those types of deals. He just got totally upset when he — and I could see that as a dad, you know. Because I can imagine, you know, somebody might say something about me, but then they say something about my kid, I might explode. I might lose it a little bit. That’s exactly what I saw with that segment, that scene. I was like, ‘Man, this is such great TV.’”
“And that’s what I’m looking for when I look at shows, when I look at a wrestling show — whatever kind of show it is, I’m looking to see if it’s some real, true drama. And they really brought some drama into that segment.”
Gunther’s performance was also praised by Booker.
“He was smooth, too. Very smooth. Yeah, he’s very smooth. I was like, ‘Man, Gunther got his stuff together, man.’ And I loved it. And right now, it seems like everybody’s firing on all cylinders right now. Everybody’s firing on — I’m talking about all the talent just doing such a great job.”
During the post-Bad Blood press conference, WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque teased the idea of Goldberg potentially having one more match. The 57-year-old Goldberg has said he is interested in having a retirement match although it’s not known if there is a deal for a match.
The last time Goldberg wrestled was when he lost to Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber 2022.
