WWE Forced Into Live Changes After Injury Scare

Triple H on headset WWE

An injury scare threw a spanner in the works for WWE as the company was forced into live changes during NXT.

On the 2nd of April edition of NXT, Joe Gacy faced off with NXT North American Champion Oba Femi in a non-title match. That bout came to a premature conclusion, however, as Gacy was apparently injured with the referee showing the ‘X’ sign and calling off the match.

That injury scare seemingly forced WWE into making some changes to the show on the fly with things having to be re-arranged.

WWE Make Changes After Injury Concern

Fightful Select gave more insight into what happened with Gacy with the injury scare described as legitimate. Gacy is said to have been able to walk to the back on his own despite concern over the star suffering a concussion.

Graphics touting a match between Gacy and Shawn Spears were put on hold for a spell with NXT sources noting the injury scare “threw a spanner in the works.” That was because, after the planned finish which did not play out, Dijak and Josh Briggs were to become involved in a segment with Oba Femi.

Due to Joe Gacy’s injury, however, that segment was hastily filmed backstage with Gacy also filming a segment where he said he was fine and asked for the match with Spears to take place at NXT Stand & Deliver.

Shawn Spears recently shocked everyone when he made his return to WWE following his five-year spell in AEW.
