WWE Executive Shares Which Hall Of Famer They Believe “Wouldn’t Survive” In Modern Wrestling
WWE executive Bruce Prichard offered a surprising take on how certain wrestling legends might adapt to the modern wrestling landscape.
During an episode of his podcast, “Something to Wrestle,” Bruce Prichard singled out WWE Hall of Famer Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat as someone who might struggle in today’s era of professional wrestling. Prichard discussed Steamboat’s potential challenges in adapting to the modern focus on character work and mic skills. He commented on Steamboat’s personality, suggesting it might not have been suited to the current environment where weekly promos and engaging with the audience on the microphone are critical to success.
The only one I don’t think that would’ve survived would be Steamboat probably. From this vantage point, personality-wise, I don’t know if Ricky would’ve had a strong enough personality to be able to go out and cut those promos every week.
Steamboat, inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009, is revered for his legendary in-ring performances and memorable rivalries with icons like Ric Flair and Randy Savage. While Prichard acknowledged Steamboat’s unparalleled skill inside the ring, he emphasised the importance of promo work in today’s WWE.
In the ring? Forget about it, man, he would do great.
Prichard added, highlighting Steamboat’s continued excellence in pure wrestling ability. Prichard’s comments reflect the evolution of professional wrestling, where performers are now expected to excel both in the ring and on the microphone.
What Did Bruce Prichard Say About The WWE Debut Of Kane?
Bruce Prichard spoke about how the debut of the legendary character Kane came to be. Prichard said that he came up with the idea for Kane to debut at the 1997 Bad Blood event during the Hell in a Cell Match between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels and that they were looking for an opponent for The Undertaker at the time when Prichard had the idea to use Glen Jacobs as Undertaker’s kayfabe brother, Kane.
