WWE Drops Plans To Reunite Popular Faction
Despite the on-screen efforts of MVP in recent months, it looks like WWE has nixed plans to put The Hurt Business back together.
The Hurt Business group was very successful in WWE during the pandemic era when there were no fans in attendance for most of 2020 and the first half of 2021. Managed by MVP, Bobby Lashley had reigns as the US Champion and WWE Champion during the period where The Hurt Business was together. They also had Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander, who were the Raw Tag Team Champions.
There have been teases of the group reuniting as recently as February along with backstage reports that WWE was likely going to bring the group back. Last November, Bobby Lashley even guaranteed the group’s return. MVP had been seen scouting Alexander and Benjamin who had begun teaming together again on Raw but nothing ever came of his attempts at putting the group back together and now it looks like nothing ever will.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE appears to have dropped plans for the group to run roughshod over the roster once more:
“They have started it and totally dropped it. Yeah, I mean, we haven’t seen MVP around. We haven’t seen Cedric or Shelton around, nothing.”
Bobby Lashley found some success over WrestleMania weekend when he won the Andre The Giant Battle Royal on the SmackDown before the show.
