WWE Disputes New Claims About The Rock

The Rock on WWE Raw

WWE has hit back at a series of claims made against The Rock.

At WrestleMania 40, The Rock made his long-awaited return to the ring, teaming with Roman Reigns against Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes in the main event of night one.

By the time the final bell rang, it was Reigns and Rock standing tall after The Great One pinned Rhodes in the middle of the ring. The victory meant that the clash between Reigns and Rhodes on night two was contested under Bloodline Rules — not that it mattered as The American Nightmare beat Reigns to become World Champion.

However, according to a new report from The Wrap, things were far from plain sailing behind the scenes.

The report makes a series of claims about the Hollywood star’s lack of professionalism while filming Red One and during WrestleMania. With regard to WWE’s showpiece event, the report alleged that Rock was three hours late for his main event match.

However, a statement from Chris Legentil, WWE’s executive vice president for Talent Relations and Head of Communications, has disputed this.

“Dwayne was not only on time for WrestleMania, he was hours early to help with rehearsal — and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire run,”

The Rock was late for an appearance at WWE World during WrestleMania weekend, but the company put this down to traffic problems and other WWE-related commitments.

Production Company Refutes Claims Against The Rock

The report claimed The Rock’s “chronic lateness and lack of professionalism” cost the makers of the new movie Red One around $50 million. The film is set to be released in November.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Amazon MGM denied the claims.

“Dwayne Johnson and Seven Bucks have been incredible partners on ‘Red One’—a film that audiences of all ages are going to love this holiday season,” the spokesperson said.

“Our testing has been very strong — the reaction from CinemaCon speaks for itself — and we couldn’t have made it without Dwayne’s constant work and support. Any reporting that implies that we got to this point with him showing up seven-eight hours late to set is both ridiculous and false.”

The Rock is expected to return to WWE to wrestle again, but no date has been set for his next comeback.
