John Cena is set to retire at the end of this year. His retirement match will take place on December 13, on Saturday Night’s Main Event at Washington, DC.

This week, the “Last Time Is Now” tournament kicked off on Monday Night Raw, which will determine who’ll face The Never Seen 17 in his retirement match. The fans in Boston saw Rusev and Sheamus advance to the next round after beating Damian Priest and Shinsuke Nakamura in the first round, respectively.

When John Cena announced the tournament, he mentioned it would not be limited to stars within WWE only. Wrestlers from outside the company will also be given a chance to participate. Speaking of which, ex-WWE star Baron Corbin is ready to pounce on the opportunity if he gets lucky enough to get it.

Baron Corbin Eyes A Spot In The John Cena Tournament

During a recent interview with Busted Open with The Coach, the 2-time WWE Champion stated that he’d love to return to WWE to be a part of the John Cena tournament. He doesn’t necessarily want to win it, but just being a part of the experience would suffice for him.

“How cool would it be if I was the guy that didn’t work there right now, that was in the tournament. Just the opportunity to go into it. John and I have a lot of history, from him costing me the Money in the Bank briefcase you know, our match at SummerSlam. We’ve wrestled a billion times. There’s always a history there.

Man it would be the coolest thing ever if I was one of the guys who does not work there right now but got the call to be a part of the tournament. Not to win the tournament, but let me go fight Gunther, because I’ve never been in the ring with him. It would be a hell of a brawl. We could beat the living sh** out of each other. It’d be really fun. It would be awesome. I would love that.”

Baron Corbin was released from WWE in November 2024, after the company decided not to renew his contract.
