WWE Allegedly Had To Bury Cody Rhodes With Creative Decision
Cody Rhodes’ next match isn’t something a former WWE writer is excited about.
Cody Rhodes will be teaming up with Jey Uso to take on John Cena and Logan Paul in a Tag Team Match at Money In The Bank. Former WWE writer Vince Russo thinks that the decision buries The American Nightmare because WWE creative has nothing else planned.
Cody Rhodes returned to the WWE at Saturday Night’s Main Event after a short hiatus since WrestleMania 41. On the show, he ran to the ring to help Jey Uso fight off John Cena and retain his World Heavyweight Championship against Logan Paul. While celebrating Uso’s victory, Rhodes took the mic and challenged Cena and Paul to a Tag Team Match against him and Jey. While on The Coach And Bro Show, Vince Russo discussed the decision of the match, stating that the former WWE Champion isn’t going after the Title becuase the creative team has nothing major in store until December.
“I think two things. First of all. They have absolutely nothing, so they’re not gonna eat that match between Cody and John Cena right now. They’ve got Cena till December. They’ve got to get till December. They’ve got nothing. So the Tag Team Match, even though it buries Cody, it buys them another month.” [1:10:09 – 1:10:35]
Cody Rhodes Recalls The Time He Stole The Show He Wasn’t Meant To
The American Nightmare found his footing in the industry when he walked away from WWE and decided to perform in the independent circuit. During that time, he and The Young Bucks came together to give the wrestling world All In.
The 2018 show featured reputable names from the wrestling world and was considered a massive success by many. On the show, Cody Rhodes defeated Nick Aldi for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. On the What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, the former WWE Champion looked back at the match and felt that they stole the show that they weren’t supposed to.
