Former World Champion Relieved To Be Out Of WWE Bubble
A former WWE World Champion is doing just fine outside of the company where he spent most of his career.
Dolph Ziggler was officially let go by WWE in September 2023 after spending nearly 20 years in the company.
Ziggler had an incredible run in WWE that included two World Titles and winning every title available to him. Ziggler is a no doubt WWE Hall of Famer some day.
Since departing WWE, Ziggler has made TNA Wrestling his home while using his real name Nic Nemeth. At TNA Slammiversary this past July, Nic Nemeth became TNA World Champion and he has held onto the title for the past five months.
Nic Nemeth Thankful That WWE Gave Him A Chance To Get Out
When it comes to talking about his past, Nic Nemeth isn’t the kind of guy to trash the company that made him famous as Dolph Ziggler. Nemeth enjoyed his time there, but he’s also happy to be elsewhere, as he discussed with The Daily Star in a recent interview.
“WWE was so great. I still had a year and a half left on my contract, and I said, ‘Please.’ I told them, ‘I’m not doing anything here. I’m just hanging out and doing cold five-minute matches.’
I said, ‘I don’t know how much longer I’m a believable world champion for any other company. I might have five more years, I might have two, I might have ten, I don’t know. But sitting here collecting a paycheck and working for five minutes a week is not helping WWE, and it sure as hell isn’t helping me.’
Luckily, they gave me the chance to get out of there because I still had time left on my contract. Being able to get out of that bubble was such a relief.”
Next up for Nic Nemeth is a TNA World Title defense against Joe Hendry at TNA Genesis on January 19th.
