WWE Blasted For Firing Current AEW Star
MVP is at the fore again, attacking Triple H and WWE for disrespecting The Hurt Business.
The Hurt Business was initially a 4-man faction, comprising Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, Cedric Alexander, and Montel Vontavious Porter, formed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The faction split after Lashley kicked Benjamin and Alexander out.
In 2021, Lashley won the WWE Championship by defeating The Miz in a Lumberjack Match, holding it for just over six months when Big E cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on the September 13 episode of Monday Night RAW.
The faction reunited that same year and disbanded again in early 2022 after Benjamin and Alexander attacked Lashley, but Lashley continued to pair with MVP.
Bobby Lashley won the title again at the 2022 Royal Rumble with a victory over Brock Lesnar, only to lose it the following month to Lesnar in the Elimination Chamber match.
Splitting the faction allegedly did not sit well with the members, resulting in MVP and Lashley leaving the Stamford promotion and joining AEW.
MVP Blasts WWE For Firing Shelton Benjamin
Despite his former stablemates leaving WWE, Shelton Benjamin continued his stint with the company.
MVP has been previously critical of Triple H and the Stamford-based company for mistreating The Hurt Business. During a recent interview with Q101, he raised the subject of the promotion not finding an alternate role for Benjamin, instead opting to release him.
[WWE] released Shelton [Benjamin] with no fanfare, no goodbyes, not even an offer to be a trainer. They were just, ‘All right, you’re gone.’ HOW WOULD YOU NOT OFFER A TRAINER’S GIG TO SHELTON BENJAMIN?”
Turns out that Benjamin’s release may have been a blessing in disguise, as he, too, joined AEW, following which their faction was rebranded as The Hurt Syndicate.
