WWE Authority Figure Slammed For Protecting Cody Rhodes
Cody Rhodes successfully defeated Drew McIntyre to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1, 2025.
The Scottish Warrior didn’t take his loss to Rhodes very well. He reacted with frustration and disbelief, feeling that the referee had unfairly targeted him during the match to protect Cody Rhodes.
Matters got worse when McIntyre’s anger boiled over and he attacked referee Dan Engler during a match between Cody Rhodes and Aleister Black on the November 7 episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
As a result of his violent outburst towards the referee, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis suspended him “effective immediately.” In a recent video, McIntyre took a scathing attack on Aldis and accused him of favoritism and protecting Cody Rhodes.

Why WWE Created Drew McIntyre’s WWE Suspension Angle?
A few days ago, Wrestling Observer Radio reported that WWE wrote McIntyre off TV temporarily because he is preparing to film a major Hollywood project. But PWInside Elite recently clarified that this is not the case. The suspension angle was designed to push McIntyre into his next storyline.
For those who have asked about rumors Drew McIntyre was ‘suspended’ on SmackDown so he can film a movie role, there is nothing to that. PWInsiderElite.com is told by creative sources that the suspension is just the next part of McIntyre’s storyline. There is nothing beyond that.
It’s unknown how long WWE will keep McIntyre suspended. McIntyre has been chasing the gold for a long time now, and every time he gets close, someone or something screws him over.
