WWE & AEW Compete To Sign Second-Generation Star
A recently declared free agent wrestler has drawn the attention of both WWE and AEW.
On January 1, 2026, Colby Corino’s contract with the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) ended, allowing him to sign with any promotion that he chooses.
According to a report by Bodyslam, both WWE and AEW have inquired about the second-generation superstar.
While Corino has the option to select his future employer, he could, of course, re-sign with NWA as they are currently negotiating a possible new contract.
To the uninitiated, Colby is the son of former ECW World Heavyweight Champion Steve Corino, who is currently employed by the Stamford-based company as a trainer and producer on NXT.
The company had pursued Colby Corino when his contract with NWA ran out in 2023. However, a background check flagged several issues, forcing the promotion to back out of talks.
Nevertheless, both parties have maintained a cordial relationship, keeping open the door on his return.
WWE May Sign TNA Champion In 2026
2025 was a significant year for WWE as far as its relationship with other wrestling promotions went.
In January, it announced a multi-year partnership with TNA, which allowed both companies to swap talents on each other’s brands.
The agreement has now seemingly generated an interest for Leon Slater, as the Triple H-led promotion is said to be impressed by his in-ring work.
Slater, 21, currently serves as the X-Division Champion in Total Nonstop Action.
Wrestling analyst Sam Roberts discussed a potential move for the Brit in 2026 while speaking on his Notsam Wrestling podcast.
I think this is not a tough one to think. Leon Slater will be in WWE in 2026. In 2026, Leon Slater will be a WWE Superstar and he’ll be great.
