WWE Adamant Ex-World Champion Won’t Return
WWE remains adamant that one former world champion won’t be returning to the company.
Ahead of WrestleMania 41 night one, WWE announced the acquisition of the famous Mexican Promotion AAA. Michael Cole broke the news during the WrestleMania 41 pre-show, shortly after a new Worlds Collide event involving talent from NXT and AAA was announced.
It’s been repeatedly reported that WWE had no interest in bringing back Alberto Del Rio, with one source noting there was “no f*cking way” he’d return. However, WWE’s new deal with AAA has shifted the landscape significantly, with Del Rio signing an agreement with WWE.
Alberto Del Rio Won’t Be Back In WWE
Now with the question looming over the company, a report from BodySlam.net has shed more light on the situation and it’s not good news for the man now known as Alberto El Patron.
The report notes that WWE has not reached out to El Patron, has given no creative consideration to his character, and has not mentioned him in any future plans.
WWE has already had AAA book El Patron to lose the Mega Championship to El Hijo del Vikingo – a result WWE spoiled before that match took place. Vikingo then successfully defended the title against Chad Gable at Worlds Collide.
