William Regal Attending January 6th Smackdown
William Regal is officially back in WWE and he’ll even be at this week’s Smackdown event.
In the month of December 2022, one of the biggest stories was that William Regal was leaving All Elite Wrestling to return to WWE. That’s because there was a clause in Regal’s contract that had the option to leave the company.
Regal asked Tony Khan if he could go back to WWE because Regal wanted to work there with his good friend Paul “Triple H” Levesque. Together, Triple H and Regal helped build the NXT brand in the 2010s.
Another reason why Regal wanted to return to WWE, which is where he worked for 20 years as a wrestler before helping behind the scenes, is because his son Charlie Dempsey is a wrestler on the NXT brand.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Regal was officially back working for WWE.
There’s been another Regal update by PWInsider, who noted that as part of his official new duties with WWE, Regal will be at tonight’s Smackdown event in Memphis.
It was noted by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that while William Regal will be at Smackdown, he will not be on camera. That was also reported in the past about how part of Regal’s exit with AEW meant he wasn’t allowed to be on camera in WWE for some agreed-upon time interval.
Regal’s job position in WWE is currently unknown although it had been reported that Regal would have some VP job title. It’s unknown what his role will be tonight on Smackdown as far as whether he’s producing, part of the creative team or something else.
Tonight’s episode of WWE Smackdown from Memphis will feature The Usos defending the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles against the best friend duo of Sheamus & Drew McIntyre.
