William Regal Reveals Details Of Backstage Fight With Sycho Sid
Backstage altercations between two wrestlers aren’t exactly a new concept, as detailed by William Regal when he fought Sycho Sid.
Even William Regal wasn’t safe from a backstage run-in with a fellow performer.
Regal, speaking on his Gentleman Villain podcast, pulled back the curtain on a seemingly random altercation he encountered with Sycho Sid. As the Blackpool Combat Club man explained, Sid came out of the blue, laying his hands on Regal for no apparent reason while the Brit was chatting to Col. Robert Parker.
Luckily, William Regal managed to get the better of the exchange:
“I have no idea what possessed him to do this. Sid has grabbed me around the throat from behind and has gone, ‘Argh, I’ve got him now!’ Well, that didn’t last long because he’s got his big, daft head there with all that curly hair, so I’ve just grabbed his hair, I’ve dragged him over the top of me, and I’ve stuck him in a grovit [submission move] on the floor.”
William Regal added that he was in a position to break Sycho Sid’s nose before the altercation calmed down.
Now signed to All Elite Wrestling, Regal has been around for a couple of other behind-the-scenes scuffles, though he wasn’t actively involved in these encounters thankfully. Incidents involving the likes of CM Punk, Ace Steel, The Elite, Sammy Guevara, and Andrade El Idolo have surrounded the Tony Khan-helmed promotion in controversy.
