Will Ospreay Wants To Wrestle Seth Rollins
Will Ospreay has expressed an interest in facing another wrestler considered by many to be one of the best in the world: Seth “Freakin” Rollins.
On January 4th at Wrestle Kingdom 17, Will Ospreay will put the IWGP US Heavyweight Championship on the line against former IWGP World Champion Kenny Omega, who is making his return to NJPW after several years away.
Seth “Freakin” Rollins is one of WWE’s biggest stars and is known as one of the best wrestlers in the world that recently topped Sports Illustrated’s list of Best Wrestlers of 2022.
While Ospreay and Rollins haven’t met in the ring, they did exchange words on social media in the past. Rollins said some comments that he regretted while Ospreay responded by saying he had nothing but respect for Rollins.
In an interview with Fightful, Will Ospreay reflected on when he exchanged words with Seth Rollins on social media in the past.
“I hated seeing what he was actually going through. When everyone was being mean to him, I really didn’t like that. I thought it was a little bit too much. I saw it, as we were having fun with one another and taking the piss out one another, I didn’t like how people were actually harassing him. I don’t like that in general. I put myself in those situations and I don’t like it either.”
“Now, maturing and growing up and actually growing from all that, I hope he’s doing well. His character is cool, I love what he’s doing, and he’s definitely one of the best guys WWE has. I think it’d be an interesting showcase to have us both in the ring one day. If the WWE door does open, it would be great.”
During that same interview with Fightful, Ospreay said that he’s matured a lot in the ring and physically since his 2015 match against Omega at PWG, and feels that early 2016 Omega and early 2019 Ospreay were in very similar situations in NJPW. Ospreay said he doesn’t believe Omega could have survived the pandemic-era NJPW shows without the crowd noise, having to isolate, and the sacrifices that were made.
