Will Ospreay’s Next IWGP UK Title Defense Announced

Will Ospreay holding IWGP UK Championship

Will Ospreay is set to defend the IWGP UK Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Royal Quest III.

At Destruction in Kobe on September 24th, Yota Tsuji challenged Ospreay for the title. While Tsuji was able to take The Assassin to the limit, and even kicked out of the devastating Storm Driver ’93, Ospreay kept coming back and finally put the Gene Blast away with two Hidden Blades and a Stormbreaker for the pinfall win.

After the match, one of Ospreay’s oldest rivals, Zack Sabre Jr., made his way to the ring to reiterate a challenge he had made to the champion at RevPro’s XI Anniversary show during AEW All In weekend.

After clarifying that the former IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship was now the UK Title, Sabre made it clear that he wanted it. Ospreay accepted his challenge, and the two will clash again on October 14th at the Copper Box in London, England at Royal Quest III.

Will Ospreay and Zack Sabre Jr. set for huge matches at AEW WrestleDream

Before they face each other in an NJPW ring, both Ospreay and ZSJ have major matches coming up at AEW WrestleDream on October 1st.

The first bout announced for the event was the long-awaited dream match between ZSJ and Bryan Danielson. The pair had been due to clash at the inaugural Forbidden Door event in 2022, but an injury to Danielson meant he was unable to compete. Now, the two will finally determine who the best technical wrestler in the world truly is.

Meanwhile, Ospreay will reignite his rivalry with several familiar faces as he joins the other members of Don Callis’ family – Konosuke Takeshita and Sammy Guevara – to take on Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, and Chris Jericho.
