Will Ospreay Says Money On The Table For Ex-WWE Star In AEW
Will Ospreay thinks that a former WWE superstar would be a great fit in AEW as his potential opponent or even as a tag team partner.
As the current AEW International Champion who could become the AEW World Champion at the same time, Will Ospreay is a star on the rise in All Elite Wrestling. The British wrestler has wowed audiences with his skills in the ring while also showing a lot of emotion when he’s on the microphone as well.
A name from Ospreay’s past who is expected to be a free agent very soon is Ricochet. The June 10th edition of WWE Monday Night Raw saw Bron Breakker destroy Ricochet in the parking lot area with a beating that ended with Bron giving Ricochet a powerslam through a windshield.
That angle on Raw was expected to be Ricochet’s final WWE appearance since his contract is set to expire soon and he has chosen not to sign a new deal. Many people who follow pro wrestling expect Ricochet to land in AEW soon although it’s not known when it might happen.
Before Ricochet signed with WWE, he got a lot of attention for some big matches with Will Ospreay in the independent pro wrestling scene. The two men are tremendous athletes whose styles gelled perfectly, which led to clips and GIFs being shared of their matches.
In an interview with CBS Sports’ Shakiel Mahjouri, Ospreay was asked to comment about Ricochet appearing in AEW and how likely it is on a one to ten scale.
“Five. I’ve said this to a lot of people recently. I’ve been shouting his name off in the distance for years, and I do mean years. It’s only now, just because his contract is coming up, that people think is going to happen. I speak to Ricochet every now and again. There is nothing said between us about whether something is going to pop off.”
“Honestly, I hope he does. I really really hope he does. I miss him as a friend. I do think there is money on the table to do a rematch, but I do think there is money on the table to do a tag team.”
This isn’t the first time that Will Ospreay has publicly spoken about Ricochet since he criticized WWE In the past for how they used Ricochet.
Will Ospreay Headlining AEW Forbidden Door
In the main event of AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door, Ospreay will challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Title. Ospeay’s AEW International Title won’t be on the line in that match.
At the end of AEW Dynamite earlier this week, Will Ospreay was attacked from behind by Swerve Strickland because Ospreay took the AEW World Title from his Forbidden Door opponent. That led to Swerve kicking Ospreay in the leg along with a House Call kick to the head.
