Wild WWE Scenario Could Finally Turn Drew McIntyre Babyface
Drew McIntyre’s recent run in WWE has been a bumpy road.
Once a dominant champion, The Scottish Warrior now finds himself struggling to secure big opportunities, coming up short in matches, and falling victim to a tough loser arc. WWE analyst Sam Roberts believes WWE could use this storyline to transform him from an imposing heel into a relatable babyface with a new fire in an unexpected way.
A Loss Against Gunther could turn Drew McIntyre Babyface
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Roberts shared a wild scenario where McIntyre could turn babyface after losing to Gunther in the finals of John Cena’s “Last Time Is Now” tournament.
“Drew McIntyre will get up after losing to Gunther, and he will shake Gunther’s hand, and he’ll say, “Thank you for the match.” And he will leave with his head held high. He won’t be in shambles. He won’t be in tears. He won’t feel cheated. He will shake Gunther’s hand. Gunther will respond in kind, and Drew McIntyre will leave with his head held high.“Because, coming off of this tournament, Drew McIntyre will be on SmackDown, and he will be mocked by a heel. Could be Solo Sikoa, could be Aleister Black, could be whoever you want to do.”“A heel will mock Drew McIntyre for all of his failing attempts, for the fact that he could not beat Cody Rhodes for the world championship, for the fact that he could not beat Gunther in John Cena finals, for the fact that he did not even get the John Cena match.”“Drew McIntyre will be mocked. And you know what Drew will say? He’ll say, “I mean, I may not be perfect, but I’m a hell of a lot better than you.” And in that moment, Drew McIntyre turns babyface because what else are you going to do with Drew McIntyre at this point?” (From 35:44)
According to a new report from Fightful, McIntyre’s future with WWE is secure, with a contract running until 2028, signed in 2024. This assures that fans will see plenty more of the Scottish Warrior as he develops a new chapter in his career, potentially culminating in a major comeback down the line.
