Why Did WWE Decide To Put The World Title On CM Punk?
CM Punk defeated Jey Uso for the World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event, and some had believed The YEET Master would walk out with it.
Both Punk and Uso are big babyfaces in WWE, but The YEET Master has been showing signs of turning heel. Despite being two babyfaces in the championship match, they put up a noteworthy match.
The question remains: was CM Punk the best choice to fill the vacated World Heavyweight Championship spot?
CM Punk will draw in money as the World Heavyweight Champion
The Best in the World is very popular with the fans. There is no doubt about that. Even if he had lost at SNME, he would still be one of the hottest assets in the company.
On Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray revealed that right now, WWE puts the title on Punk to draw in more money and eyes to the product, and keep the championship warm until Seth Rollins is ready to come back to WWE TV.
We’ll get the championship on Punk. He’s a draw. He’s a face that people love. We’ll make money on the autograph sessions with him or wherever else we make money with CM Punk. We’ll get through Survivor Series. I don’t know this for a fact. I’m just using pro wrestling logic.
We’ll get through Survivor Series, and then we’ll get to the Rumble and see what we want to do. We’ll see where Seth is at. I know Paul had given us the iggy uh last week, that it sounds like Seth is out for six months. So, we’ll reevaluate. Putting a championship on somebody, double parking a championship on somebody, somebody keeping that championship warm. There’s nothing wrong with that as long as it’s the best person for the job.
On the latest episode of Monday Night RAW, CM Punk and Jey Uso teamed up against The Vision members. Logan Paul aligned himself with The Vision by taking out Punk, sparking rumours of WarGames between The Vision and a team led by CM Punk.
