Why Vince McMahon Got Extremely Angry At Current WWE Star
Vince McMahon was known for his unpredictable temper, and now a current WWE star has revealed how they fell foul of the former chairman.
It didn’t always take much to earn Vince McMahon’s ire in WWE, as he micromanaged every facet of the company. Stars have long explained that things such as haircuts and tattoos have to be approved by management, but in 2015, Sheamus went into business for himself.
Returning to WWE with a mohawk and braided beard, Sheamus explained to Chris Van Vliet on Insight why he tried to reinvent himself with the extreme new look and how it greatly annoyed Vince McMahon:
The great thing about that was I p*ssed the brass off on that one, because I didn’t ask for permission, I just did it. I think I’ve been off with an injury, and I just kind of felt stagnant, and I’d done that babyface. I was just like, I need something different and cool, right?
So I did it, and I think Vince was p*ssed big time because I didn’t tell him I was doing it. But I did all this stuff, my beard and all the braids and everything, and I thought man, I look cool, dude. I look badass. I look like a bleeding ass kicker again. I’m gonna go out there. I think I attacked Wade and Bryan. I was going out, I looked badass and I thought people are gonna go, this guy looks cool.
Unfortunately for Sheamus, the new look didn’t get the response he was looking for, and he was forced to endure chants from fans that didn’t quite fit his tough guy persona:
I walked out, and then some bollocks in the audience started a ‘You look stupid’ chant, and that was it. It just carried across the arena. I was like this is not what I was expecting. It was not the reaction that I was going for. It was great, you know, I leaned into it, and it was class. It was fun.
Vince McMahon Forced Out Of WWE
Vince McMahon was told to resign as Executive Chairman of TKO by his Endeavor bosses in 2024, ending his official association with WWE. That came off the back of sponsors threatening to withdraw their business from WWE as Vince McMahon was accused of serious sexual abuse and sex trafficking in a lawsuit filed by a former company employee.
