Why Naomi Is The Definition Of Evolution In WWE
Naomi has reflected on her WWE journey, making the point that she embodies what evolution is all about.
The heel turn of Naomi in 2025 has led to the veteran WWE superstar having a breakout year as she warns everybody around her to proceed with caution.
As the Women’s Money in the Bank winner, Naomi teased cashing it in on the WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton several times on television. Those attempts likely made most fans think that the woman who wears caution tape would be successful at cashing in on Stratton.
However, when it came time to cash in, Naomi chose a different path.
During the epic WWE Evolution main event match between Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Title, Naomi went down to the ring, cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase, and beat Sky to win the Women’s World Title on the Raw brand.
Earlier in the same evening, Naomi lost a brutal No Holds Barred Match to Jade Cargill, who got the win after hitting the Jaded slam through a table.
In an interview on WWE’s Evolution Recap show on YouTube, Naomi made the point that she’s the epitome of Evolution.
“My whole journey, everything. I’ve evolved and adapted and adjusted for 16 years. I am the epitome of evolution. When you look up evolution in the dictionary, I want a picture of me next to that bitch like this (gestures).”
Naomi Was Given Great Advice From Natalya To Find Her “F-U”
It’s been a long journey for Naomi in WWE since she started as a Funkadactyl with Brodus Clay and didn’t get a chance to show what she could do in the ring for a few years. As a wrestler, she portrayed a positive-thinking woman who urged fans to “feel the glow” while wearing bright colors all the time.
When talking about her career, Naomi spoke about the great advice she received from her good friend Natalya.
“Me and Nattie talk, and I learned and got this from Nattie. She always says, ‘find your F-U. She said, find your F-U.’ And like, I get it. I get it, and I think I found it. It’s not like F-U as in like you don’t care or it don’t matter, but it’s just like find that, whatever that string is or that thing that fires you up and that just makes you not give a crap to get to your goals and dreams and where you want to go.
I think it’s very hard now with social media. When I started, there wasn’t even Instagram. So to now be in a time where there’s so much criticism, and we’re already as performers hard on ourselves, it can really get to you. It can affect your confidence. It can make you not even want to… to do this anymore, and you just got to find your F-U. Cut out all the noise and push through and just keep going.
If you stop, which that may be good for some in certain situations, but also on the other side of that, which I learned during my time away, if you just keep going and see it through, you don’t know what could happen, what could change, where you could be like wrestling is so amazing and incredible and beautiful in that way, and I think that’s what keeps us coming back.
Those who understand and connect in that way, you never know what you can be, what can happen, what can be done. It could be tomorrow. It could be next year. For me, it could be 16 years later, and you don’t know, and I think that’s what, for some some of us, I think that’s what drives us. That’s what fuels us, and I just I love that.”
Naomi will get to celebrate her Women’s World Title win on the July 14th edition on WWE Monday Night Raw in Birmingham. It will be a change for Naomi since she’s been a SmackDown superstar for the last few years.
