Why Mick Foley Is Grateful For AEW
Mick Foley remains a WWE man.
Although he spent time wrestling for All Japan, WCW, and WCW, Mick Foley will forever be connected to WWE.
It was with the sports entertainment giant that Foley finally achieved his dream and became a World Champion, wrestled at the iconic Madison Square Garden, and starred in more than one of the most famous moments in wrestling history.
Since retiring from in-ring competition Foley has continued to make occasional appearances for the company, remaining loyal to those who helped him reach the top of the industry.
Mick Foley Says AEW Helps WWE
During an appearance with For The Love Of Wrestling via Monopoly Events, Foley discussed the importance of AEW. However, the veteran admitted that had more to do with seeing WWE stars earn more money than anything else.
“I think they’ve been really important in raising the remuneration that wrestles receive. I’m not saying this out of any disrespect, but WWE is to me in its own league, but I’m really grateful for AEW. They have great matches on a regular basis, and without them, the WWE Superstars would not be making what they deserve. So thank you, Tony Khan.”
Back in January, Mick Foley revealed he’d lost 100lbs after making plans to get back in the ring. The Hardcore Legend initially wanted to wrestle in one last match to celebrate his 60th birthday, and that involved getting back in shape.
Although plans for the match were scrapped after he sustained a concussion while training, Foley continued his fitness journey. In a video on his YouTube channel, the Hall of Famer quipped that while he’s not 21 anymore, he feels pretty damn good.
