Why Mercedes Mone Is Not Being Booked To Lose

Mercedes Mone AEW

Mercedes Mone is the belt collector, and now the truth about why she never loses has seemingly been revealed.

In recent months, Mercedes Mone has broken records set by Ultimo Dragon as she has collected a staggering twelve championship belts. The longest-reigning TBS Champion of all time added a new title to her collection at WrestleDream when she defeated Mina Shirakawa.

One day later, The CEO captured another title as her legacy continues to grow. After a confrontation at WrestleDream between the two women, Mone will get the chance to grab the biggest prize of all when she challenges Kris Statlander for the AEW Women’s World Championship at Full Gear.

With Mone still active on the independent scene before then, the truth about how promotions are allowed to book her has come to light.

Mercedes Mone Will Not Lose

During a Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp explained the process for booking Mone for these shows and why there’s never a question of having her lose on these shows:

Well, I can tell you the bit of insight that I’ve gained: she could, if they end up paying the rate that she asks for. And as best I know, people contact her management wanting the exposure of her working on their shows and winning their championships.

Now, it’s not just me saying this—multiple indie promoters have also said this. They’ve also indicated she doesn’t have creative control there either, because you’re not going to contact Mercedes Moné to come into your company and lose.

And AEW would not be okay with her taking an indie booking to lose—unless she lost on AEW TV first. They’re well aware that they’re booking her to win it all on their own.

The price is negotiated, and then it’s done. And as best I know, people contact her management wanting the exposure of her working on their shows and winning their championships. So, I mean, Mercedes is a certifiable draw for these companies—like, it’s been repeated many, many times.
